St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, so we thought putting together an all green food taste test is a great way to celebrate this fun holiday! It’s also a fun way to get your little ones trying new, healthy foods. We’re hoping this game shows them that some of those fruits and veggies they thought they didn’t like are actually super tasty!
Step 1: Gather Green Foods
The first thing you need to do is head to the grocery store. We think it would be a great idea to bring your little ones with to have them find the different green fruits and veggies in the produce department. It’s also a fun way for them to learn their colors! It can be like a little scavenger hunt for them.
We used:
- Kiwi
- Cucumbers
- Green Apples
- Pears
- Snap Peas
- Green Grapes
- Kale
- Lettuce
- Limes
- Broccoli
- Avocado
- Pickles
Feel free to use whichever items you’d like! You could also use green peppers, cabbage, green beans, celery or more!
Once you have your green foods, make sure to wash and cut them, then place them all in muffin tins. This is a great way to keep them separated and orderly.
Step 2: Fill out the Worksheet
Have your kids fill out this worksheet with every food they try. Have them draw a picture of the food and write the name in the left box, then on the right box, draw a happy face if they liked the food or sad face if they didn’t. We think it’s a fun way for them to learn their letters, and improve their drawing skills while deciding if they enjoyed the fruits and veggies.
So there you have it – our St. Patrick’s Day Green Food Taste Test! If you tried it, be sure to send us your pictures! We look forward to seeing what fun food you ended up trying!
